Open Kerno

Reserved, Open Demand and Net Available

Updated October 27, 2026

Know how much of a product you can still sell. Kerno counts finished goods in a few ways, and each order changes them as it moves from Pending to Shipped.

The numbers

You'll find these on Inventory, Finished Goods, for each product and variant and as totals at the top:

  • On Hand is everything in stock.
  • Reserved is set aside for allocated orders.
  • Available is on hand less reserved.
  • Open Demand is the quantity on orders that aren't allocated yet.
  • Net Available is available less open demand: what you can still promise.
  • In Production is what active production runs are expected to make.

How an order changes them

Take 23 tins on hand and an order for 12.

While the order is Pending, the 12 tins count as Open Demand. Available stays 23 and Net Available drops to 11.

When you allocate the order, the 12 tins move to Reserved. Available drops to 11, Open Demand goes back to 0 and Net Available stays 11.

When you ship, the 12 tins leave On Hand and Reserved: 11 on hand, 0 reserved, 11 available.

Good to know

  • An allocation names the lot it came from, such as FG-1002, so you know which batch went to which customer.
  • A Net Available of 0 or less shows in orange, so you can see what to make next.
  • Sort the Finished Goods list by Net available: low to high to see what's running out first.
