The Home page and search
Updated October 26, 2026
Home shows you what's going on in your workspace today and gets you to the tasks you do most in one click. Search sits at the top of the sidebar and finds any page, record or help article.
What's on Home
The numbers match the screenshot:
- The counters: Active products, Materials, production runs that are Ready to start, In progress or Awaiting QA, and Open purchase orders.
- Upcoming production: the runs scheduled for the next 7 days, plus drafts that have no date yet. View all opens every production run.
- Recent inventory activity: the latest movements of materials and finished goods, such as stock received, reserved, used in production, produced, shipped or recorded as waste, each with the quantity and who did it. Materials inventory opens the full stock list.
- Needs attention: materials running short, deliveries that are overdue and runs waiting for QA. With nothing to do, it says "Everything is in order."
- Margins: the products with the best margins at their current cost. Reports opens the cost reports.
- Quick actions: Add product, Add material, Create BOM, Plan production, New purchase order and New order.
A product only shows up in Margins once it has a selling price and a cost, from a published BOM or a completed production run. A brand-new workspace starts empty, and each area tells you what fills it.
Find anything with search
- Click Search Kerno at the top of the sidebar, or press ⌘K on a Mac.
- Type part of a name or number, then pick a result from the list.
- Press Enter to open the highlighted result, or click the one you want.
Before you've typed anything, search offers Quick links to pages and actions you're likely to want, Plan production run for example. Then it searches pages and actions, orders, production runs, lots, products, materials, ingredients, suppliers and help articles. Results come grouped by kind, with enough detail to tell them apart, like a product's SKU or a run's status. The up and down arrow keys move through them, and Esc closes search.
The result opens on its own page. For a product, that's its product page.
Good to know
- Everything on Home belongs to the workspace named at the bottom of the sidebar, and that's where you switch workspaces.
- A product missing from Margins needs a selling price and either a published BOM or a completed run.
