Adjust inventory or record waste

Updated October 28, 2026

A stock count came back different from what Kerno shows, or something got spilled, damaged or expired. Either way, you fix the number here, and Kerno keeps the reason with the change so the history shows why stock moved.

Adjust inventory

  1. Open the material and click Adjust.
  2. Say whether stock goes up (Increase) or down (Decrease).
  3. Pick the Lot it applies to, or leave Adjust without selecting a lot as it is.
  4. Type the Quantity. Inventory impact shows on hand and available, before and after.
  5. Give it a Reason. The choices are Stock count correction, Damaged, Expired, Found stock and Other. A Note is optional.
  6. The button at the bottom is named for what you chose, for example Decrease inventory. Click it.

Left the lot blank? A decrease then follows the material's lot allocation, and an increase lands in a new lot. The Materials Inventory page has Adjust and Add on every row too.

Record waste

  1. On the material's page, the three dots at the top right open the actions menu. Choose Record waste there.
  2. Choose the Lot, or leave Any lot (allocation method).
  3. Type the Quantity and give a Reason. You can choose from Spillage, Damaged, Contaminated, Quality rejection, Expired and Other.
  4. Click Record waste.

See what changed

To see who changed what and why, open the material's History tab. Inventory history lists every change with the newest first. Each line carries the lot, the quantity, the running balance, who did it, and the reason or note they left. Filter by date, or by activity such as Waste or Inventory adjustment.

The same tab has Usage history, which puts each completed production run's expected use next to what it used. If a run keeps using more than it should, that is where you spot it.
