Record who you buy from and how you buy each material from them. Kerno uses a supplier's SKUs to fill in purchase orders and to reorder automatically.
Add a supplier
- Go to Purchases, then Suppliers, and click Add supplier.
- Type the Supplier name.
- Add the Contact person and Email. Purchase orders are emailed to this address.
- Under Purchasing information, enter the Payment terms, such as Net 30, and check the Currency. SKU prices are in this currency.
- Enter the Default lead time in calendar or business days. Kerno uses it when a SKU has no lead time of its own.
- Click Add supplier.
Kerno numbers the supplier, such as SUP-0003, and opens its page.
Add supplier SKUs
A supplier SKU links one of your materials to the way this supplier sells it.
- On the supplier's page, open the Materials tab and click Link material.
- Choose the Material.
- Enter the Supplier SKU / product code and a SKU name, such as Shea butter, 1 kg tub. Leave Kerno SKU code blank and Kerno numbers it.
- Choose the Purchase unit and enter the Unit cost per purchase unit. The purchase unit must convert to the material's inventory unit.
- Enter the MOQ (minimum order quantity) and, if it differs from the supplier's default, the Lead time.
- Turn on Preferred supplier for this material if this is the SKU you usually order.
- Click Link material.
The Materials tab lists each SKU with its purchase unit, unit cost, MOQ, lead time and whether it's preferred.
Good to know
- Leave Unit cost empty only when you don't know it yet. Kerno then flags the SKU as needing a cost and never reorders it automatically. A cost of 0 counts as no cost and alerts you and the workspace owner.
- Only one SKU per material can be preferred. Automatic reordering and new purchase orders use it by default.
- Minimum order value and Default MOQ on the supplier apply when a SKU doesn't set its own.
- The Suppliers page lists each supplier with its contact, number of materials, open purchase orders and lead time, and has Import and Export CSV.
